Spring Capsule Wardrobe the Capsule Experiment

This blog post is a little bit late admittedly, but better late then never! Today I’m sharing my Spring Capsule Wardrobe.

It’s here, it’s here! Spring is officially here and as of April 1 I kicked off a brand new wardrobe season.

In case you missed it, I’ve been creating seasonal capsule wardrobes that are a way to utilize the clothing I already have rather than constantly searching for more! I will say that so far, I feel like I’ve done a pretty good job overall at sticking to it each season.

If you want to read a bit more about the capsule experiment, you can do so here!

Before I hop on over to all the details of spring, I do feel like I want to make a few notes of what I learned in my winter capsule:

  • Weather is finicky.  Be prepared.
    • I feel like with my winter capsule I was pretty squared away for milder temperatures (ie, 35-50) but not so much for temperatures that reached closer to 0 this year!  I had a couple thicker sweater pieces that were great, but I probably could’ve set aside one other!
  • Colors.  Winter is apparently the time of year where I liked to wear random colors previously. I don’t typically love reds or oranges or bold colors (on me, or in general) and yet some *read most* of my pieces fell into that category. I think it made it hard for me to know how to mix an match as easily and definitely took some time to come into my own on that one!
  • Towards the end of the season, I either hit my stride or get bored.  At the end of my fall capsule I was ready to swap out for some new pieces for sure! This time I feel like I had hit my stride and wasn’t quite ready to move onto spring.  Namely because it was still in the 30s that weekend, but I digress.
  • Want to know if you really hate the way something looks on you or pairs with things? Put it in your capsule wardrobe and don’t wear it even once. It’s sad but true!  After winter was over, that piece found its way into the donate pile!

Anyways, I am currently wearing my spring capsule wardrobe each day and I tried really hard to keep in mind all of the lessons I learned above as I was planning for this season!

Color was the biggest area of focus for me this time planning as well as versatility.  I love some good neutrals and filling my wardrobe will mostly neutrals and a pop of mauve really helped me hone in on color palettes that make me happy! It also means I can be more flexible with my pairings than I was before!  So enter neutrals, denim included, mauve, and a pail blue.  They’re my favorite colors any way, so I might as well just go ahead and include them!

One additional thing I paid attention to was the fits of each piece. I noticed last time that I had a lot of sweaters and tops that fit kind of similarly in length or thickness.  This time I tried to mix things up a bit so I would counteract some boredom there, too!

So without further ado, here’s a peek at the pieces I chose for spring.  Remember that this excludes work-out cloths, wedding day dresses, but everything else is covered below:

Wife, mama, wielder of light & joy, and capturer of moments.  I thrive off of conversation and genuine connection.  In between wrangling our kiddos, and hanging my husband, you'll find me dreaming up my next idea or creative endeavour.  It's these things that culminate to give my imagery a warmth and joy to them - the greatest compliment I could receive.

Lauren grew up spending her summers at the shore, and when she and Nick got together, she couldn't help but introduce him, too!  Their session in New Jersey was filled with gorgeous light, sweet smiles, and so much love & laughter.

Connor and Alli's wedding celebration was full of lush florals, gorgeous details, and a whole lot of joy.  Their first look was one of the most sacred moments I've witness on a wedding day... filled with so much delight and love!

She's the ultimate hypewoman. I was pretty nervous about being photographed and Lauren made everything fun and flexible. Honestly, I can't imagine the day without her and her team. They were wonderful and hearing from Lauren was always a genuine delight.
