Man, oh man. So if you were around the blog last week, you saw that I posted some of my favorite images from my couples’ sessions for 2018. I’m pretty sure that you’d agree, it wasn’t just a good year, it was a great year! If for some reason you missed that post, hop over here and read it, and then come right back, k? You’ll be happy to escape to a few wonderful places while you do!
As for today, I’m switching gears and sharing some of my favorite images from weddings last year… some that I haven’t even had the chance to unveil just yet! (Don’t worry, I’ll be posting more of those soon, promise!)
As a wedding photographer, there are a lot of different moments we capture on the wedding day. It’s our job to curate and archive one of the most important days in a couple and a family’s life — from beginning to end. It’s a way to hold a piece of their legacy for the rest of time, freezing the most important moments and all of those in between.
So when people ask if I just take pictures for a living, I smile politely, knowing that it’s so much more important than just taking photos. It’s about preserving moments that you can’t get back.
Like, the moment when —
- your mom helps you into the prettiest dress you’ll ever wear, or fixes your veil just so!
- when your bridesmaids crack up as they try not to step on said dress, walking to your ceremony!
- or the exact look on your groom’s face the moment he sees you first!
- the radiance of your smiles as you make your way back down the aisle together as husband and wife!
- the laughter of your friends as they surround you for a toast celebrating your nuptials — most often paired with a colorful comment from one of the groomsmen that has everyone dying!
- the joy in your eyes as you stare at the man of your dreams clinging to him during your first dance!
Those moments aren’t ones that can be recreated — they’re the ones that matter most.
That’s why I can’t even put to words how fortunate I feel to be invited into such special celebrations for so many incredible people! To all of my clients — y’all are such gifts, and I am so grateful for the way you trust my team and I to join y’all as extended parts of your bridal party for the day :)
Anyways, I think you’ll see that this year was something special. Sure, it was a year filled with incredibly epic details — but beyond that, is a joy that surpasses it all. I hope you get to enjoy a quick peek at some of my favorites from the year! I think it’ll be pretty clear why I love my job!
