Seeking Purpose

seeking purpose

First I should start this post off by saying thank you.  Thank you to all the people that are constantly encouraging me and pushing me to be a better servant, in all aspects of my life.  What I’m especially grateful for today  is that I am a part of a community within my job, as a photographer, in which we are constantly pushed to go deeper.  Our businesses are not something just to please ourselves and to fulfill our own passion, but instead its a platform to serve other people.

Something that’s really been on my heart lately is creating images that have purpose behind them.  I want my images to matter to the people I’m serving, my clients.  Sometimes we get lost behind the craft and forget to tell the story.  Well, I want to be intentional about telling the story.  I’m so grateful that I can come into my wedding season knowing this and having my heart in this place before it gets started!  I can’t wait to see what this year brings!!!  Happy Tuesday!!

  1. SO great seeing you last night!!! You are right, we need to put the big fat “WHY” (as J&M would say) behind what we do as photographers. Sometimes it’s hard to define, but it is really beneficial to have a clear mind knowing that there is a drive for why we do what we do. Not necessarily regarding how we take photos, but it could even be a simple question, WHY do I blog every Monday-Friday. WHY do I submit photos for publication/features? WHY do I support my photography community? So many whys!!! Haha! Cannot wait to see what your year has in store for you!

  2. YES YES YES!!!! i try to keep this in mind with every single business decision I make.

Wife, mama, wielder of light & joy, and capturer of moments.  I thrive off of conversation and genuine connection.  In between wrangling our kiddos, and hanging my husband, you'll find me dreaming up my next idea or creative endeavour.  It's these things that culminate to give my imagery a warmth and joy to them - the greatest compliment I could receive.

THE JOURNAL

Lauren grew up spending her summers at the shore, and when she and Nick got together, she couldn't help but introduce him, too!  Their session in New Jersey was filled with gorgeous light, sweet smiles, and so much love & laughter.

Connor and Alli's wedding celebration was full of lush florals, gorgeous details, and a whole lot of joy.  Their first look was one of the most sacred moments I've witness on a wedding day... filled with so much delight and love!

One of my greatest inspirations comes from exploring and the California coast fulfills that wanderlust like nothing else.  Anytime I have rolling hills and oceanside views, I'm in heaven.

Nate & sofi, baltimore Maryland

She's the ultimate hypewoman. I was pretty nervous about being photographed and Lauren made everything fun and flexible. Honestly, I can't imagine the day without her and her team. They were wonderful and hearing from Lauren was always a genuine delight.
