Oh friends, if you love winter, Georgetown, and cozy couples, you are in for a treat today!

From the minute I started chatting with Melanie on the phone, I knew I would just adore this couple!  First things first, they’re friends with one of my favorite couples of all time, Andrew & Gwen — starting off on the right foot ;)  Hearing about what Greg and Melanie have planned for their wedding day, the things that matter most to them, and how they fell in love… I just could tell how sweet of a couple they are!

As these two shared about their love story with me while we walked around for their downtown Georgetown engagement session, I was impressed! You see, these two played almost a little game of phone tag, but location tag, when they first start seeing each other.  Greg was in Philly while Melanie was in DC.  Then it swapped up when Melanie moved to New York and Greg relocated to DC.

I’m not sure that I say it enough, but I always have a deep appreciation for couples that make long distance work! It’s certainly not for the faint at heart.

Now however, they live together downtown with their sweet pup Denny.  Gosh, he is adorable and the perfect little city pup! He loved getting to walk around with us and even carry his coat a bit, too! Haha!

In our first phone conversation, Melanie let me know just how important Denny is to them — he’s even making an appearance on the wedding day (!!!!), so he obviously had to join into the engagement session fun too!  We bonded over our love of goldens from our first conversation, and that day I told her that I hoped Morgan was getting me one for Christmas.  She promised that she would be equally as sad with me if I didn’t get one, but instead we got to laugh about it together!

The thing I like most about Greg and Melanie though, is just how comfortable they are with one another.  Even on a freezing cold day, they made spending time together look so joyful and fun!  … not always an easy feat when your hands are freezing, right Greg?  They adore each other effortlessly and all I can say is — August will come quickly right!?
