Friends, you are in a treat for this Capitol Hill engagement session!
From the first time I hopped on the phone with Monica to “meet” her, I felt like I was chatting with an old friend. She is bubbly, sweet, and hilarious! When she told me she wanted to work together for her special day, I couldn’t have been more thrilled.
For as bubbly as she normally is, she lights up even more when she talks about Alec. I got to hear all about how these two met — it’s pretty much out of a classic DC romantic comedy ;)
Two co-workers met working together at the Capitol and were friends first. As Monica put it, Alec had the chance to see her at her worst (though I’m pretty sure she’s pretty angelic even at her worst!) as her co-worker. They both got to see what they were really in for, with long hours and constant problem-solving together. From what I can see, they sure do make a pretty good team!
One of the things I always encourage my couples to think about when it comes to their session is choosing a location that’s meaningful to them. There’s something about exploring a place that matters. It means that I get the chance to hear about all the little nuisances that make a space special to them. For Alec and Monica, we explored their little DC neighborhood and then the Capitol, where their story together began.
The evening was so much fun! It really was like spending the evening with two old friends!
As a last aside, you can’t even tell in these photos that it was 100 degrees during our session. I mean who looks that joyful when the heat index and humidity has it feeling like 110!?!
Alec and Monica, thank you for trusting me to capture these season of your lives together! I cannot wait for September to be here soon!!
Happy Wednesday, friends!
