Good morning friends! Today I am sharing the tasty recipe for the cookies that my mom used to bake with us every year. They’re delicious and serve as the perfect treat to take to any holiday party! Oh, and did I mention that making the dough takes little to no time at all? If its simple, it’s something I can handle! So without further ado – here’s your recipe:
Bake at 400° for 5-7 minutes
Keep Dough Chilled before Rolling the dough
1 Stick of Margarine
2 cups of flour
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
2 tbsp. of whiskey
1 can of your favorite icing
A few tips and tricks
- A standard kitchen aid mixer will only hold a double batch of these cookies… try to triple it at your own risk!
- It’s best to bake the dough and let it set overnight! The colder the dough is, the easier it is to roll!
- I like to make sure that as I’m rolling out the dough that it creates a pretty thick layer. This makes the cookie have a chewier and softer bite to them, which is my preference! If you want them to be a little crunchier, roll your dough out thinner!
- My favorite spot to shop for cookie cutters is Sur La Table – they have such a large variety that makes it fun to bake these for almost any occasion! I’ve made a fun assortment of summertime cookies, too!
- I’m a little lazy when it comes to making the icing for this, so really any of your favorites will do! You could also just do egg whites and sprinkles! Whatever your preference is :)
Yum! I hope y’all enjoy!
