Then + Now Celebrating Growth

Yesterday, I spent sometime just reflecting on this beautiful thing that I’m fortunate enough to call my job.  For me, it’s often so easy to compare myself to other people in this crazy, big, photography industry.  Sometimes that green bug of jealousy gets the best of me and I forget about how far I’ve come.  I started this business on a whim and a hope presented in an email.  That email was to my sweet friend, Katelyn, asking her if I was crazy to even have this dream.  Not too much longer I found myself near Richmond, Virginia for a one-on-one session with her.

I had a million questions and stupid questions at that.  Okay, they say that there are no stupid questions, but really these were pretty dumb.  Oh, and you should have seen my ideas for the blog back then… yikes!  Well, since that day, I’ve shot and learned and worked hard to create a craft that I am proud of.  I’ve studied and practiced, and studied some more and practiced some more.  I’ve also married the love of my life, (and had Katelyn there to capture every step of the journey), and have been to a lot of weddings since than!  I’ve also had an incredible support system along the way.

When I look back at then and fast forward to now, I’m grateful for all I’ve learned and for all the people who believed in me.  This dream of mine was a crazy one, but I’m so grateful for how its unfolding.

Thanks for the photos, Katelyn and Kristi!

Wife, mama, wielder of light & joy, and capturer of moments.  I thrive off of conversation and genuine connection.  In between wrangling our kiddos, and hanging my husband, you'll find me dreaming up my next idea or creative endeavour.  It's these things that culminate to give my imagery a warmth and joy to them - the greatest compliment I could receive.

THE JOURNAL

Lauren grew up spending her summers at the shore, and when she and Nick got together, she couldn't help but introduce him, too!  Their session in New Jersey was filled with gorgeous light, sweet smiles, and so much love & laughter.

Connor and Alli's wedding celebration was full of lush florals, gorgeous details, and a whole lot of joy.  Their first look was one of the most sacred moments I've witness on a wedding day... filled with so much delight and love!

One of my greatest inspirations comes from exploring and the California coast fulfills that wanderlust like nothing else.  Anytime I have rolling hills and oceanside views, I'm in heaven.

She's the ultimate hypewoman. I was pretty nervous about being photographed and Lauren made everything fun and flexible. Honestly, I can't imagine the day without her and her team. They were wonderful and hearing from Lauren was always a genuine delight.
