Jesse and Gwen had an incredible, intimate Inn at Perry Cabin wedding last fall. I am so excited to finally be sharing it with you.
It was Thursday in November, and I remember pulling into St. Michaels. I couldn’t help but think that there couldn’t be a cozier atmosphere for a wedding. It was rainy and maybe even a tiny bit dreary, which only felt more fitting.
I had been looking forward to celebrating with these two since I had first met them at their engagement session earlier in the year. Their connection to one another was so easy — the kind you have with your best friend. We spent the afternoon together and I loved laughing with them and learning about who they are as people. It will surprise you little that I adore them.
Aside from spending time with an amazing couple: one of the best gifts of being a wedding photographer, is getting to meet a couples’ VIPs. This group of their closest, included some incredible people. They all had huge smiles all day celebrating this long awaited wedding of two of their favorite people! I can’t say enough about the few that were gathered there and how wonderful they are! It made the day all the more special.
After opening letters from friends who couldn’t be there in person, Gwen got dressed in the most beautiful gown. It was then time to meet Jesse for their first look. His face says it all.
For portrait time, we spent the beginning of the day dodging rainfall throughout the property. Then it was off to the ceremony, on one of the inn’s notorious sailboats, with friends and family huddled together dockside to watch Gwen and Jesse say, “I do!”
It wasn’t until the end of the ceremony that the sun began to shine.
Just as they smashed the glass and headed off as newlyweds, we were greeted by the most epic sunset. Pinks and purples painted all across the sky, amplified like it only can be after a rainy, cloudy day. I’ve seen a lot of sunsets in St. Michael’s and I think this one will always be my favorite.
Finishing off the night with a surprise for their guests, Jesse and Gwen did their cake cutting outdoors followed by an incredible fireworks show. It had been a long year apart from everyone and they wanted to give their friends and family a wonderful experience for celebrating.
As everyone watches Jesse and Gwen soak in the fireworks together, it was clear, these two are something special.
