Do you ever have one of those moments in life that feels like everything aligns just perfectly!? That’s how this Gibson Island engagement session felt for me last week.
After a crazy weather day, I met these two soon-to-be newlyweds on Gibson Island for their engagement session.
Michaella & Luca live in Miami but are getting married in Annapolis. That left our window for planning the session to their latest trip to Maryland. If you’re local, you may remember that last Thursday we were filled with torrential downpour and crazy winds. This of course took place for most of the afternoon and even leading up to my drive to Gibson Island.
A few hours before the session, Michaella and I were texting. She said she was ready to chance the weather if I was.
… I’m so glad we did.
When I first arrived on the island, the rain was just finishing up, and a beautiful osprey was awaiting. When I hopped out to scope the backdrops from their session, I was in heaven. The light, the wildflowers, all of it was a little piece of paradise. I kept joking.. are we in Hawaii or Maryland?!
Shortly after the couple arrived, I knew this session would be special. They have this carefree, fun energy to them. They don’t take themselves too seriously and just delight in one another’s company. (One of my favorite attributes!)
BUT THEN.
We ended up with the perfect golden sunlight mixed with beautiful raindrops like only a summer storm could bring. If you’re doing the math then you know that that rain + sunshine = a rainbow.
We, were blessed with two… basically the whole time. Talk about a DREAM!
This session was only possible because of how incredible Luca and Michaella are. Other couples may have been discouraged with the rain and missed out on this epic little adventure. I hope that encapsulates their season of engagement as a whole. They want things their own way for the wedding, ways that feel like them, and I’m so grateful to be a small part of making that come to life for them.
Anyway, enough bragging… I’ll let you get to explore Luca & Michaella’s Gibson Island engagement session for yourself. Safe to say that I am ecstatic to see these two again in August!
