Brittland Manor Venue Tour — Eastern Shore Weddings

Whenever people find out what I do for a living, I’m usually asked two questions —

  1. What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you at a wedding?
  2. Where is your favorite place to photograph?

The first question I answer almost weekly in my newsletter.  It’s there that I spill the tea on all the crazy things that happen on wedding days… within the confines of an exclusive little list and maybe not the internet as a whole.  Translation? I get to share the juicy stuff.

The second question is much harder to answer, but at the very top of the list is this beautiful estate in the heart of the Eastern Shore—

What’s not to love?

You have a little bit of everything: a beautiful manor house, a gorgeous property, groves of trees, open fields, and waterfront.  The inherent setup of the estate gives you the opportunity to make the wedding a whole weekend’s experience, not just a day.  It feels like all the best parts (and classiest!) of Wedding Crashers AND it somehow manages to be a blank space able to conform to any style a couple might bring.

So I thought it would be fun today to highlight a few of my favorite spaces at Brittland Manor so you can take a little tour and see for yourself why I love this Eastern Shore wedding gem of a venue.

GETTING READY

First, the getting ready suite.  It’s got tremendous light, fun blue walls that read mostly neutral and a fabulous canopy bed for bridesmaids photos —

The Library

The library is on the first floor of the house and has the most wonderful wooden backdrop.  Typically grooms get ready in this masculine room, but I’ve also had grooms get ready in the river house.  This one is just dapper, right?

The Landing

This is one of my favorite places to shoot on the wedding day.  It’s perfect for a first look with dad, bridesmaids, or a bridal moment.

Portraits

At Brittland Manor the options for portrait locations are literally endless.  I love to utilize the front grove, by the iconic gate, and the fields.

I also love to sneak my couples away for sunset.  That light… you can’t beat it!

Ceremony

Are you catching the vibe that there are so many fun locations for the ceremony? I’ve seen couples get married by the river, in all the fields and their many vantage points, and even in the front grove.  What makes Brittland so special though is the way it makes guests feel… I mean who can be grumpy when they’re staring at a beautiful couple in front of that view?!

… even in the rain ;)

Cocktail Hour + Reception

Regardless of where the ceremony is held, there is an inherent need to usher guests to cocktail hour.  In doing so, they get to take in all of the grounds and their beauty.

Most often Brittland’s cocktail hours are held in the garden because its just the dreamiest.

The Tent

You know that my love for a tented reception runs deep.  Give me all the sailcloth tents.  Brittland Manor gives you the best of both worlds: a stunning manor house and a sailcloth tent.

Please just feast your eyes on all the pretty opportunities for that —

Isn’t it just a dream? Take me there!

Wife, mama, wielder of light & joy, and capturer of moments.  I thrive off of conversation and genuine connection.  In between wrangling our kiddos, and hanging my husband, you'll find me dreaming up my next idea or creative endeavour.  It's these things that culminate to give my imagery a warmth and joy to them - the greatest compliment I could receive.

THE JOURNAL

Lauren grew up spending her summers at the shore, and when she and Nick got together, she couldn't help but introduce him, too!  Their session in New Jersey was filled with gorgeous light, sweet smiles, and so much love & laughter.

Connor and Alli's wedding celebration was full of lush florals, gorgeous details, and a whole lot of joy.  Their first look was one of the most sacred moments I've witness on a wedding day... filled with so much delight and love!

Nate & sofi, baltimore Maryland

She's the ultimate hypewoman. I was pretty nervous about being photographed and Lauren made everything fun and flexible. Honestly, I can't imagine the day without her and her team. They were wonderful and hearing from Lauren was always a genuine delight.
