This past weekend I traveled to Colorado to celebrate one of my oldest’s friend’s wedding celebrations. It was the perfect weekend — from the weather, to the people, to the places.. it was amazing!
I also got to spend time with Keenan, Jillian, and Buck for their Chatfield State Park Colorado engagement portraits!
K&J are getting married this Saturday at Sugarloaf Mountain, but my trip overlapped just before these two were headed out for their wedding festivities. Time was on our side and it was total serendipity!

When it comes to destination engagement portraits, I love to lean into the couple to choose the location. It lets them choose a spot that is meaningful to them and then I head there early to scout! It’s fun because it offers a fresh perspective on a beautiful location.
Well, I think you’ll agree that when Keenan chose this location he knew what he was doing! It hits all the boxes: waterfront, mountain views, and he even thought through where the light would be best!
It meant that we had the most stunning backdrops for these portraits… but even more so, I loved my evening hanging with Jillian and Keenan.
To say that I’m looking forward to seeing them again this weekend would be an understatement. These two have something special and I cannot wait to celebrate them!
AND if you want to be one of the first to see exclusive sneak peeks from their wedding celebration, you’ll want to make sure you’re signed up for the newsletter! You get to see everything there first ;)
Early last week I had the privilege of meeting Spencer and Caitlin for their Eastern Shore engagement photos at Kent Manor Resort.
Engagement sessions are one of my favorite parts of my job because it’s when I really get to know a couple. I can observe the way they interact with each other and what puts them at ease. I see the ways they make each other laugh and get to just disappear behind my lens!
… and we do all of this outside of the hustle of a wedding day where time can be of the essence.
Not only are they naturals in front of the camera, but they have so much fun together! From the beginning it was easy to see that they adore one another.
These two have been together for nearly 10 years and know each other so well. I think that’s what makes their connection so evident. They love to tease each other and smiles are never far from their faces when they look at one another.
Plus, Spencer & Caitlin invited their sweet pup Ted to finish the session with us which was so cute and fun. You’ll have to scroll to see that little cutie!
All in all, the evening was perfect —
… and we get to do it all over again come July!
Safe to say after spending an evening with this crew that I cannot wait to see what Kara from Nouvelle Weddings and the team at Floret & Vine have dreamed up for their special day. It’s going to be a dream!
Don’t they just make you the happiest!?!
.. and just like that, one sentence can encompass that sweet, tender, adorable personality — on his best days of course.
Somehow the Swann house is about to gain a brand new three year old this weekend. Per our tradition, he already thinks he is 3 since we celebrated his party on Sunday. But I couldn’t wait to share about my favorite little guy.
Sullivan James is reserved for when he’s gotten into too much mischief, but Sully J is his most utilized name.
He loves his “sissy Weesey” and “Gogo” whom he named and it’s stuck.
He usually finds himself tagging along to things his big sister is a part of. Even so, he does nothing but cheer her on. In fact this Christmas we found ourselves at one of those “tag along” events. At Reese’s recital, tucked, in the pews, he suddenly stood up! He cheered as loud as his little voice would carry, “Woohooooooo, Reesey!!” completely on his own. It melted me and everyone around us for sure.
There are many times where Reese has a big kid privilege… she gets to do something that he really wants to. Instead of fussing, he’s usually just excited for her instead of sad for him!
Sully is also the epitome of charming… there’s a long list of people who have told us that. Wherever he goes, he makes strangers’ days. Even at the gym I find him greeting everyone in his “class” and all of “his teachers” there know him by name.
“… thank you for Jesus, Michael, and Gwammy” is usually how it starts, and ends only when he’s listed every one of his cousins, aunts, uncles.
You’re a full on little boy, definitely not a toddler anymore, and sometimes I wish you’d find yourself a way to Neverland. Please stop growing up.
Can’t believe how much you’ve grown! Happy (almost) birthday, bud!
I first had the pleasure of meeting Elle at a wedding. She is a wonderful assistant apart of the Sara Reynolds Events team and is always a joy to be around!
It’s there that I first got to hear about Andrew, too! From everything Elle told me, they both seemed like such a wonderful pair.
Fast forward to a quick conversation mid-dinner where Elle asked if I ever photograph anniversary portraits. I answered with a very quick and resounding yes!
They’re outside of your wedding day, because that’s not the only day that’s worth commemorating! Each season is unique and fun to capture and celebrate as you grow together!
These two are busy accomplishing big things: both in law school and killing it. I hope when they look back at these images they cherish exactly who they are to each other in this very (busy!) season.
It had been a while since I was last there, and I had so much fun getting to capture some of my favorite places & spaces as backdrops for these two.
Andrew & Elle — thank you for allowing me to capture this sweet season for you! It was a joy to spend the evening with you, your sweet pups, and chasing the sunset!
… an evening I won’t forget!
I don’t always share just a “classic, looking at the camera portrait” but man I thought this one was so lovely.. a framer for sure!
These last two are for me — Elle & Andrew soaking in sunset as they honored the tradition of TAPS. The second, because I just have this thing for hands… like one day when they still fit together perfectly (but old and wrinkly) they’ll have this to treasure!
I was talking to a dear friend the other day on the phone. Every so often we call, chat, & catch up. Because she is also in the wedding industry, she’s as close to being a co-worker as I get.
It means, we get each other, in a unique way that most people don’t. This business we’re in is a strange one. It’s not like other industries! We’ve also been in the wedding world together since the start of both of our creative endeavors turned businesses.
As we both recounted our busy schedules this upcoming spring, she stopped and said, “can you imagine what us 10 years ago would have thought about this conversation!?”
Work life is immensely busy and I am gearing up for a crazy spring season.
(Seriously, I keep joking that maybe everyone could just check and make sure I make it to August, haha!)
But when I look ahead, and I look at the life I’ve built.. the one that let’s me juggle my babies on one hip, and an editing screen on the other, I just couldn’t be more grateful.
Thanks for being here <3
… and seriously, see you in August ;)
PS. Photos are from one of my favorite days this spring photographing for Kate of Floret & Vine. She is just the kindest human and I loved getting to watch her thrive in her element. Creative businesses are cool and amazing and just yay!
The name of the game over the last few weeks before wedding season? Portraits. Portraits. Portraits! That’s why I’m so excited to share M&S’s Sherwood Garden Baltimore maternity portraits with you today!
In fact, I just shared Matt & Shanna’s gorgeous Mt Washington Mill Dye House wedding last week. This week I get to share their next season, too!
We met in one of my favorite Baltimore gardens to photograph these two under the last of spring blooms. It was a bit chilly and we had just had those huge rain storms the day before. Alas, nothing could’ve ruined this sweet session.
Getting to be a part of not only a couple’s engagement and wedding day, but their important milestones afterwards? I’ll never get over that honor. It’s a joy to continue to celebrate people alongside them in their most treasured moments.
… especially when it includes a nod to their engagement shoot.
These two share rival football allegiances and included their jerseys at the end of their engagement shoot. This time they did an updated versions: onesie edition!
Matt & Shanna, thank you for trusting me to photograph this exciting new season for you! I can’t wait to see you again once that sweet baby girl decides to join us! xx
Hope you enjoyed this Sherwood Garden Baltimore maternity portrait session today!
It’s funny how life connects over time isn’t it? Sometimes the people you meet in what feels like another lifetime, you end up reconnecting with later…
You see, Shanna and I were friends in elementary school! We played softball together and spent time at each other’s houses… but we ended up in different middle schools and lost touch.
So getting to shoot her wedding felt like such an honor! Not only that, but it was so fun to be welcomed by her family again. Most importantly getting to meet the love of her life, Matt, too.
If there was an award for wonderful grooms, I think Matt would be at the top of that list. The way he adores Shanna is just so evident and he’s also one of the kindest humans.
Caitie Hanrahan pulled together an amazing team to transform this Mt Washington Mill Dye House spring wedding into a dream. Guests were transported into this perfect juxtaposition where industrial met garden party. There was candlelight at dinner and Steel Cut created floral masterpieces around the room.
It was basically chef’s kiss!
There are so many details from this day that are so special, but I’ll let you see for yourself. Hot tip: you cannot miss the sweetest pups that also made their appearance during the first look. The cutest <3
