Ever wonder what it looks like to be a photographer on a wedding day? Today I’m taking you Behind the Scenes 2017 — it gets fun friends!
I don’t know about for you, but for me, this time of year always is such a special time. I mean we’re in anticipation of Christmas time but also the New Year. Not to mention 2018’s arrival means that the Winter Olympics is on its way! Words don’t quite contain my excitement for that event! I mean, I’m pretty sure that I could make the team for watching the Olympics each year!
This time of year is also the perfect time to reflect on 2017. It’s time to think through the things that worked, the things that need improvement, etc! The best part of being a wedding photographer? That kind of reflection requires looking back at all the pretty images from the year — and I’m not even a tiny bit mad about it!
So, over the next few weeks as we wave goodbye to 2017, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite images I’ve photographed this year! Dang, it’s going to be tricky to pick through such amazing wedding celebrations and engagement sessions! However, I think I’m up for the challenge! Hopefully you’ll tag along to see all of the pretty and why #LaurenLovesWeddings ;)
First things first though, I’m sharing with you all about what being a wedding photographer actually looks like on a wedding day… and all the spaces I’ve gotten to shoot at this year! Just a tiny bit of documentation of #AllTheThings and hats I wear on any given wedding day. From quiet-observer, to veil-fluffed, bad-joke-teller and beyond, I just love my job!
Also, looking through these photos just makes me so grateful for my couples… I mean if they trust that girl who does _______ (*insert all the awkward things I do*) to capture their big day, they’re obviously the real MVPS!!
Enjoy a tiny peek of the Behind the Scenes 2017!
This first section, I like to call normal shooting stance vs. abnormal shooting stance!
Yikes! No wonder my shoulders are always tight after a wedding day!
Normal…
… Abormal
Normal…
… Abnormal!
I mean, what is my foot doing there?!
Another job of a photographer is to blend in! This next section I call incognito ;)
This next set shows that I should probably work on my instructions a bit… poor Andrew and Robin!
Looking back at these images, I’m deeming my particular “shooting stance” as the chicken wing.
I mean, look at that arm! It’s everywhere , it’s everywhere! *insert eye roll here *
Reception shot testing at it’s finest…
Also, sometimes I’m a little bit bossy. Yikessss!
As photographers, sometimes we have to do anything for the shot!
I’ll just go ahead and echo again… evidence of why my shoulders are always sore after wedding days!
Feeling #Blessed that I didn’t fall of that ledge!
They say, practice what you preach!
My groomsmen know all about the hand in pocket technique!
I also work well with an audience ;)
1 part photographer, 3 parts clothing stylist.
Also, Meg, I’m just going to pretend you’re laughing at me ;)
My face when I convince them to grab just a *couple* more portraits ;)
Honestly just posting that one because my hair looks semi-normal for once.
Uh, guys! Do you know where you’re going?
It’s okay! I’ll show you!
I could’ve photographed in that field alllll day long. Taking requests for 2018 for fields and veils… the perfect combo!
I’m probably just grateful that my hair didn’t catch on fire by those sparklers…
… it’s literally my greatest fear on a wedding day. Eek!
TBH, Kayne’s Gold Digger probably came on.
They didn’t think I was funny at first.
But I got ’em!
Uh, Lauren, you probably need that thing laying on the ground to their left.
I mean, maybe…
Professional veil fluffer reporting for duty!
I told ya, 1 part photographer – 3 parts clothing stylist!
Can’t hide the joy I feel getting to do this job I love!
Or the pure blisssss that took over when Megan finally let me borrow here bouquet. Jk, jk!
Happy Tuesday, friends!
Great blog post! Love seeing you in action… ahhh those dresses, and that field and that bouquet at the end… Plus, I give you big kudo’s for wearing a dress all day long!
