Well folks, wouldn’t you know it — we just hit our TWO YEAR anniversary of living in the Swann House! How did that even happen?! Things have flown by and we’ve had a fair share of gatherings fill our home in the last 730+ days!
My friend Anna once shared with me after she visited the Swann house, that what she loves about our house is the way we’re bringing new life to such an old home. We live in a 1900’s farm house, and from talking to the former owners (and finding bright yellow floors in ripping up our closet) if WALLS could talk! Now we get to put our own memories and touches on things and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!
Now here’s what you should know about home projects… I’m the visionary and Morgan is very much the executer! He works so hard to make my dreams come to life, even when they take extra work.
Like that time I…
-
asked to paint the bedroom and it turned into a whole reno…
-
… including a new closet, getting rid of popcorn ceilings, new lights, a new vanity, hanging the television, and a wall collage
-
Asked him to put in an extra switch for the fan, and then ordered one without lights and a need for said extra switch
-
Upping the look of our bi-fold doors with extra trim work
-
Picking a wall color that looked like Andy’s bedroom from Toy Story and then picking another color after we painted a wall
And that folks is why a) it took longer than originally expected, b) my husband deserves an AWARD for not divorcing/killing me in this process, and c) DIY is not for the faint of heart ;)
Of course as always, there are some parts of the room that are not quite completely finished! I’m still debating on window coverings, painting Morgan’s end table to match mine, and finding the perfect throw for the end of the bed, butttt, I am happy to present our newly renovated bedroom! For those of you who are curious about where things came from, I’ve also included the sources to as much as I could at the bottom of the post!
Finally, over the holidays, my family got to see the bedroom reno in person! As my aunt said, she couldn’t remember what it looked like beforehand to compare it to, but I’ll be sure to show you a few before/afters — don’t you fret! Just to give you a little taste, I’ll just go ahead and confirm that I am NOT missing that poop brown trim.
Thank you, Morgan and Mack for being so helpful in our “before” pictures, lol!
And of course one set during ;)
