When it comes to engagement sessions, one of my favorite things is getting to explore a place that matters to a couple, rather than somewhere just with a pretty view. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for pretty architecture or a scenic overlook. However, when it comes to documenting this season… the one right before they say “I do!”, I think it’s more fun to explore a place that matters to a couple, rather than just a pretty backdrop.
There’s something about taking in the view from their eyes when it’s someplace meaningful.
For Alex and Rachel, it was a quaint little section of DC: Mt. Pleasant.
When Alex and Rachel first were together, they spent time living in this adorable little neighborhood. As we walked around, I loved getting to see not only all the fun nooks and crannies, but they places they’ve walked their sweet pup, Betty. (Also, if you were wondering if I was singing in my head “woooah, Black Betty!” over and over again in my head while I was editing these, you’d be correct ;)) This is where they spent date nights and hung out with friends.
… and to end our time together? We took a little detour to the building where they currently live to get a few shots of the overlook of the city. Win, win, if you ask me!
You can tell when you’re with Alex and Rachel that they just love to spend time together. They are so comfortable and make for such easy photo subjects! ;) Even with the insanely humid weather, they walked around like it was all just a breeze! Thank you for braving the heat and humidity for me!!
Needless to say, after spending the evening with them and the sweetest pup (sorry, Mack and Walter!), I’m looking forward to their special day in October!
Until then, enjoy a peek at Alex and Rachel’s Mt. Pleasant engagement session! I hope you love them as much as I do!
