Ben and Rachel were married the weekend of New Years Eve at the Loft at Liberty Street in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  Their wedding was full of so much joy and was the definition of a refined, yet relaxed celebration.

Throughout the day there were so many fun and intentional details — their hand-torn vow books, the hand calligraphed reserved signs, the garlands and the florals.  It was elegant and cozy… perfect for a December occasion.

But most of all, Jesus was at the center of everything they did.

This wedding will forever be special to me because of who Rachel is to me.  In fact, I’ve known her since she was in the sixth grade and to see her grown up, surrounded by incredible community, and now embarking on this next journey of marriage… it was a delight!  Being a part of her life throughout those years will remain a highlight of my life <3

Some of my favorite things about this incredible celebration —

• Rachel & Ben met at JMU so having their wedding downtown was the perfect idea.
• It also just so happens that throughout school Rachel has worked at the infamous Magpie’s downtown.  After the newlyweds said “I do!” at the Loft, they invited guests to cross the street to Magpie’s to enjoy a fun (and delicious!) cocktail hour.
• When I say that Ben & Rachel have surrounded themselves with such incredible people… I think it would be an understatement!  This group was so fun to work with and I love all of their wedding party portraits from the day!
• When you’re attending the wedding as a guest and photographer, you get to have a little extra fun.  We broke out some direct flash for some portraits over at Magpies for these two and they’re some of my favorites from the day!

All in all, this wedding celebration was incredible.  It was a joy and I’m so grateful to have been a part of such a meaningful celebration.

Also, sorry not sorry, but culling my favorite images to share with y’all when they’re some of my people…  it’s just too hard. So sorry in advance… hope I don’t break your internet with all of this goodness <3  xx!
