I  can’t believe that my little sister is going to be graduating high school this year…  It seems like not that long ago I was helping her cut her hair off pretending to be the twins from The Parent Trap.  It was my mom’s birthday, a little detail that seemingly slipped our minds at the time, and we were chopping our hair off with scissors in our play kitchen set… best birthday present ever! The best part of the whole thing was that our mom woke up before we quite finished with our new dos, and so we decided to hide under the dining room table once we realized what we had done.  What we didn’t realize is that in the back of Rachel’s head, I had missed one small, long sliver of hair at the bottom of her head, one that we decided resembled the bottom of a coon hat most notably rocked by Daniel Boone, a catchy nickname that caught on for quite a while afterwards.  Despite the hair fiasco  of 1998, my sister has grown into a beautiful woman who loves God and life itself.  Her laugh is contagious and she has a serious heart for other people.  Rachel is a wonderful person who works hard to prioritize other peoples’ needs before her own.  Today I am honored to call her my sister and couldn’t be prouder!
