Here we are… we officially have a two month old!
If you checked in to see Reese’s one month post, you were probably a little concerned that any of her updates were going to be real wordy. Well, that’s because I had so many questions about her and her birth story. I promise that from here on out, it’ll be mostly pictures, a few fun memories I don’t want to forget, and probably some #momfails, too.
… because let’s be honest. At any moment I’m typing this, she could wake up from her nap. Or she could pretend she’s going to and psych me out. Or she could sleep for two more hours! Who knows!? #YouCan’tMakeABabySleep #AlsoBabiesDon’tKeep
When I think about the last month in general, I just feel like we’ve done a lot of learning about each other. It’s been the sweetest thing getting to watch her smile, coo, and find her ways of expressing herself. She’s pretty stubborn — she does not like to go to sleep when someone new and exciting is around, but she also has this sweetest little spirit, too. She is definitely taking it all in. This month you can tell that she loves to look at the things around her. She literally stared at our ceiling fan for 20 minutes one day. It. was. hysterical. She’s also been putting her self to sleep, and has been smiling more!
Gosh, when she looks up at me and smiles, I just can’t even.
This month is also the month where I am back to work and figuring out our schedule that way, too. Some of my clients know — it looks like taking their phone calls in the car when I know she’ll be chill. Sometimes it looks like waking her up a few minutes early to feed her before my next phone call. Other times it looks like answering emails while she’s wrapped to me. It’s a big balancing act, just like riding a bike — a little more focus on home, then a little more focus on work, and I’m loving the challenge of it all.
Side note: I also had a phone call with one of my couples for next year and the bride was so sweet and understanding and told me that she was hoping Reese would make an appearance during our call. Gosh, this job is just the best because I truly get to work with the best.
It’s official, when it comes to Reese, I’m a big ole sap. And I’m not even a tiny bit mad about it.
Anyway, without further ado, here are a few things about Month 2 of Reese Adaline:
Reese’s Favorite Things —
- her hands
- ceiling fans
- puppy dog tails
- pulling mama’s hair
- the funny noises mom and dad make
- cooing
- rap music
- her crib
- riding in the car
Firsts —
- smile(s)
- date nights for mom and dad
- trip to Baltimore
- play date(s)
- sleeping in her own room
- meeting her best friend and cousin, Rhett
- and much to our delight — sleeping through the night! (Though that has only been in the last two days, we’re taking it as a win!)
Mom Fails —
The other day I had to make some returns and I knew that the Annapolis mall was on the way to our play date. I timed it out perfectly so that I could feed her, do my returns, and then scoot over to the playdate. Well, I don’t know if anyone else’s kid is like this, but mine only takes forever to eat when you have to be somewhere. So by the time she was done, I only had time to make one of the three returns. *Eye roll*
In my hurry, I decided, who needs a burp cloth or a diaper bag, this will take two seconds to be in and out. We walk into Pottery Barn together and literally make it all of 5 feet into the store when she pukes all over my shoulder and herself. LOL #MOMFAIL Needless to say, we went right back out to the car, grabbed a burp cloth, and I know carry a burp cloth in my purse for situations such as these.
I definitely have about 934 more stories just like these, but I’m totally forgetting them right now. Sooo, I’ll start keeping a diary in my phone so that I can be a bit more accurate next time ;)
All in all, it’s safe to say that I just love this little lady mucho and I’m so grateful that she’s ours. What a gift! I can’t even believe how much she’s changed already and I can’t wait to see what the next month brings.
]We love diaper changes, baths, and hanging out with Dad!
“Oh you thought you were going to get to eat dinner right now!”
Good try! ;)
Also for those asking, the adorable sleeper my mother-in-law bought her is from Gymboree (sad day!!), but her pink and white striped top is from Pehr Designs off our registry.
So sweet! Figuring out the schedule thing is SO HARD! We’re still figuring it out, or pretending we already have – not sure ;) good luck!
@Megan Fitzwater – ah! I totally understand the “pretending we already have” part ;) Lol!!
