This time last week I was making my way down to meet Nate & Sofi for their spring DC engagement session.

One of my favorite parts about an engagement session, is that it is a chance to spend time and really get to know a couple.  As much as an initial consult is so much fun, it doesn’t give us the same opportunity.  At an engagement session, I get to watch the way the people in front of my camera interact with one another.  I see the ways that they look at each other and the way they lean in as they laugh together.

Nate & Sofi, have this way about them — they absolutely adore each other (which is so easily apparent!), but they’re also so fun!  I think we basically just spent the whole morning laughing together.  Swinging at the park and searching out cherry blossoms on a stray median, these two were easy to photograph.  Smiles are never far from their faces when they’re together.

Their session can be categorized in two parts: first, exploring the streets around their apartment and catching the first looks at a quintessential DC.  It was full of blooms bursting everywhere and touches of green finally replacing the brown of winter.  (Thank goodness!!)

The second was when they were really in their element.  In their apartment, Nate & Sofi were surrounded by the things they’ve curated to represent them.  We recreated a bit of their morning routine — reading in their favorite chairs and cozied on the couch.  We even grabbed a frame of the two surrounded by books.  It felt so them.

After spending the morning together, I think you’ll see why I cannot wait for their wedding in July with Nouvelle Weddings.  It is going to be an epic celebration because I know that celebrating these two will be easy.
