Last week I talked about how to choose your location for your engagement session! Hopefully after reading my tips and tricks you’re feeling a little less stressed about it!! This week is another hot topic as far as engagement sessions: what to wear!! Ah! I remember the night before our engagement session, I was freaking out trying to think about what I should/could wear! Well, here are some tips and tricks to help ease your worry:
- If you’re wearing make-up (which I highly suggest you do!) make sure to add a little extra eye makeup! It helps your eyes to really pop in photographs! If you’re hyperventilating at the thought of navigating that, I suggest going to see a professional before! Right before you do your engagement session is a great time to do your makeup trial, and then you’ll see what it will look like in photographs to make sure you love it!
- Don’t try to MATCH, but instead pick outfits that will coordinate! A great way to do this is pair neutrals with a little color! Have one person where a neutral color that coordinates well with the color the other person is wearing!
- I have each of my couples choose to outfits: a more casual and a dressier option! This adds a fun variety to the collection of photos you’ll receive!
- Be as bold or as simple as you want to be! Bold colors add a super nice pop to your images and are fun but, a simple white dress can look just as nice! If you’re looking to add a pop of color it can always be done with scarves, bold necklaces, or fun shoes!
- Patterns: they look awesome in photos unless they are super teeny-tiny! If you’re wearing one, I’d try to make sure it’s not overwhelming and distracting! Also, graphics tees are usually a no go!
- Modest is hottest. That’s right friends, I said it! Make sure whatever you’re wearing is something you’d be okay with your future-daughter wearing. Low-cut shirts and short shorts limit the things that we can do and the number of angles I can shoot at!
- Most importantly, be yourself. Just because an outfit looks Pinterest-worthy doesn’t mean that it’s you! I strive to create genuine images and that’s a little hard to do when you’re not wearing something you would normally be okay with wearing!!
Now I know that that’s a lot of information but here are a few pretty pictures with some of my favorite outfits to distract you:
