Maybe you’ve been wondering where all the cute little “Making Pinterest Happen” posts have been lately. Maybe you haven’t and this is the first time you’re reading about the series. Well, it will have to be your first and your last. I loved this little series because I was pushing myself to create, to be inspired, and to actually make things happen. What I didn’t realize in the process is how much I would be stifled by the feeling of conformity. Pinterest is a great place for inspiration, but it is not meant to be replicated exactly. It’s also a place where people showcase the best of them: the best of their ideas, the best of their home, the best of their closet, and so on.
My goal in life is not to be like everyone else. My goal is to be me, the person that God created me: with all my faults, flaws, creativity, and traits. So from now on, instead of wasting my time trying to make my life look like everyone else’s I’m going to continue to create and be inspired, but in an authentic way. Friday’s will now be the home of my art, the things that aren’t from Pinterest and aren’t necessarily directly related to my business. Sometimes it might be experimenting with new mediums. Sometimes it might be personal thoughts and journals with words that actually mean something. Sometimes it might be cute outfits… because we all know, I love a good outfit. Either way, I’m freeing myself from the conformity of doing it the way everyone else is. I’m allowing myself to do it my way.
