When a bride-to-be is busy planning their wedding, chances are they’ve already had some ideas of things that they’ve seen and fallen in love with. Their “I Do” board on Pinterest all of a sudden never gets updated so that they can post their real ideas onto secret boards. A lot of times, a bride-to-be’s ideas can kind of turn into a mushy pile of random ideas. Then theme walks in the door and tidies the place up! A theme is a great way to tie all of your crazy fun ideas together!
A themed wedding is also not always what you’re thinking. Sure, Iiley + Holly’s beautiful wedding was a West Coast/East Coast theme and that worked beautifully for them, but not all themes have to be so specific. A theme could just be how relaxed/sophisticated that you want the day to be. It could also be just the colors of your day. A theme could be a simple phrase or verse that expresses to your guests how you want them to feel or enjoy the day.
Think about it this way, if you have a hundred different pins all that seem to resemble a rustic, country feel, your wedding should not be a black tie wedding. If you have a hundred different pins all of the same colors, that’s probably what you should choose for your day. If your chosen colors are purple and blue, then you know not to randomly throw in a neon yellow sign in your decorations, but instead one that is purple or blue. Theme walks in the door and tidies things up.
Happy Wedding Wednesday!!
Completely agree! :) I love seeing different themes that really fit the couples style. Great post!
This reminds me of how photographers recommend that couples “coordinate without matching” for outfit choices… your wedding should coordinate, but doesn’t necessarily need to have every element match! Great post :)
Exactly, Alicica!!!
