My Style

defining classic

I think it’s funny how often style can be changed, manipulated, or even just plain forgotten.  Yesterday I spent a little time during my snow day/sick day purging my Pinterest boards of all the things that either, I wouldn’t do, choose, or want anymore!  It was actually kind of neat to see how my taste, whether in decorating, graphic design, or the photos that I’m drawn to, has changed in the last couple years.  What I’ve discovered is that there are some “pins” that I would keep from years ago, but only the ones that are truly classic.  I define classic as things that are timeless, that will never go out of style.  Some of those things are: laughter, polka dots, wood, pops of bold color, warm smalls, flowers, sweet romantic moments, stripes, and really anything in nature.  These are the things that I find myself drawn to again and again.  Hence, I have found my style, and I couldn’t be more excited about it!

Some of you may be wondering, what on earth all that nonsense has to do with my business and photography, but creating something classic is my hope and goal.  I would never want my clients to look back at their wedding pictures and say, “oh gosh! Why did our photographer think that was cool?!” Haha, maybe it’s just me, but I totally had a nightmare about that the other day.  Creating a classic product is something that I need to be doing in every essence of my business.  Right now, I’m not so sure that that’s completely what my brand is preaching.  So with the new year, I am going to take the time to brand myself the right way!

This year has been such a year for me as far as growth in my business, style, and finding who I really am.  I know that it isn’t quite over yet, I mean, I still have Lowell and Cheryl’s beautiful wedding to shoot this weekend, but I am so grateful for this year, and all it’s taught me so far!

Who would have thought that a Pinterest purge would have brought on all that?! Haha! And yes, I know that today I’m supposed to be blogging about why paperworks are important at a wedding… but I decided this was something that I couldn’t wait to share!  So today… what’s your style?  What some of the things that are your ideas of classic?  I’d love to hear about them.

Wife, mama, wielder of light & joy, and capturer of moments.  I thrive off of conversation and genuine connection.  In between wrangling our kiddos, and hanging my husband, you'll find me dreaming up my next idea or creative endeavour.  It's these things that culminate to give my imagery a warmth and joy to them - the greatest compliment I could receive.

Lauren grew up spending her summers at the shore, and when she and Nick got together, she couldn't help but introduce him, too!  Their session in New Jersey was filled with gorgeous light, sweet smiles, and so much love & laughter.

Connor and Alli's wedding celebration was full of lush florals, gorgeous details, and a whole lot of joy.  Their first look was one of the most sacred moments I've witness on a wedding day... filled with so much delight and love!

One of my greatest inspirations comes from exploring and the California coast fulfills that wanderlust like nothing else.  Anytime I have rolling hills and oceanside views, I'm in heaven.

She's the ultimate hypewoman. I was pretty nervous about being photographed and Lauren made everything fun and flexible. Honestly, I can't imagine the day without her and her team. They were wonderful and hearing from Lauren was always a genuine delight.
