One thing I’ve been learning about lately in my life is about balance and boundaries.  Well, this got me thinking about one of the things that I struggled with when I was a bride.  When I was planning our wedding, one thing that I got really caught up in was all the details.  Morgan will tell you that I asked him to make way too many DIY projects and details for our wedding.  Poor guy!  So here are a few tips that I learned (after the fact) that I think would be helpful for all my sweet brides that are in the throws of planning:

  • Pin specifically- Sometimes I got a little carried away with my pinning, especially at the beginning!  One you’re looking for ideas on Pinterest, the best way to counter pinning too much (and therefore trying to do too much) is to look for specific things.  If you’re looking for ideas for the cake display, pin 3 different displays and then keep the one that a) goes with your overall theme of the day and b) you like the best!  Once you’ve pinned it stick to it!
  • Take time to talk about more than just the wedding- One thing that Morgan and I wish that we had done more was enjoy the season of engagement.  We got married five months after we got engaged and so there was a lot to do.  We were both in school full time and working so our time to work on things was a bit limited.  That meant that our conversation was flooded by and centered around the wedding!  That could have been a good thing, but instead we were (or mostly I was) stuck in the details of it all!  I think that we would both be more intentional about setting time aside from the wedding!
  • Your wedding is just the beginning of your MARRIAGE- If you’ve ever heard the saying, “I want a marriage more beautiful than my wedding,” then you’re the definition of an LRS bride!  I want each of my couples to have a beautiful start to their marriage, with gorgeous florals and details, but what I want most of all is for them to have a marriage that’s even more beautiful.  When you’re in the throws of wedding planning, its easy to be caught up in it all.  It’s even easier to worry about if something could go wrong.  At the end of the day, the most important part is that you’re husband and wife!

I hope these little tips and tricks helped!  Happy Wedding Planning, sweet friends!! And just in case you need a little more inspiration you can always check out the inspiration on my Pinterest boards!  You can find the credits to the images above in the Pinterest boards!

I was pretty nervous about being photographed and Lauren made everything fun and flexible. Honestly, I can't imagine the day without her and her team. They were wonderful and hearing from Lauren was always a genuine delight.
