A couple weeks ago, in my list for things to check off your list when you’re first engaged, I told you that your venue is a must have before basically anything else. The venue is something you need to have to settle your date and before you pick any other venue. So how do you pick your venue? Well, I personally am a firm believer in making your venue either personal or gorgeous… but preferably both!
When Morgan and I got engaged, or even before that, we knew that we wanted to get married at his grandparents’ farm. It was the place that we met and it was gorgeous. I loved that we got married at the same place that we met. Now, I realize that that option isn’t realistic for everyone. People meet all kinds of places that aren’t necessarily perfect wedding venues. So I think a great option is finding a venue that fits your personality, especially because the venue helps to set the precedent for the rest of the day.
Tips for finding a venue:
1. As with most things on a wedding day you have to keep in mind your budget. Even getting married at some place free, like the farm, turns into more when you have to rent a tent, port-a-pots, chairs, tables, etc.
2. Make sure it’s a place that both you and your fiance love! (This is probably easy if its the place that you met/spend a lot of time together)
3. Does the venue match the overall feel of your day? If you’re getting married in a ballroom you’re probably not going to bring in hay bales and have a rustic wedding. Make sure you keep the overall theme/feel you want for your day in mind when you’re choosing your venue!
I hope this helped anyone in the process of picking their venue! Happy Wednesday!
