Hello December A Month at a Glance

Well hello old friend… its been a while, December – exactly eleven months, if you want to be precise.  As Morgan pointed out to me last night, he thinks that you’re my favorite month of the year.  And while he’s not wrong, his logic was very convoluted.  You see, while December is the month of my birthday and Christmas, I don’t just love December because I get presents.  Instead, I love December because – I get to be present – I get to decorate the house and the tree with those magical lights, I get to spend time some quality time with friends and family, there’s a chance that I get to pretend I’m Lorelai Gilmore for a hot sec and smell snow, oh and there’s cake… because let’s be honest, that’s the real MVP of birthday months.

But alas, another month has come and gone and I’m finding myself grateful for all that happened in November.  I’ve been missing these online posts as a way to be held accountable for conquering my goals each month.  So they’re back-at-it-again-with-the-white-vans:

December’s Happenings

  • Early Monday morning I’m headed to San Francisco for the week to help Natalie get settled into her new place there.  I told her I was boycotting the move, and for the record still am, I just couldn’t give up another chance to see my beloved Golden Gate… Just kidding!
  • There are a ton of birthdays in our family and friend circle this month including all of us who have married into the Swann clan so far – we always joke that being born in December is a pre-req for joining the fam.  Plus, our nephew turns one on Christmas day! So crazy!
  • I quite literally can’t wait to deck the halls for Christmas – decorating the banister in our hallway is one of my favorite things to do at Christmas.
  • I really like the concept of reflecting on how things have gone in the past year, and so this time of year, as we prep for a new one, is one of my favorites!

Business Goals

  • Create a blogging calendar that I stick to and implement well this month – I really have missed blogging!
  • Create newsletter content that is helpful to my subscribers – by the way, I’m blown away by y’all already!! Thank you for those who have joined, those who wrote me… y’all are the best!! If you want to join, be sure to sign up here.
  • Listen to at least three business podcasts this month.
  • Set up stricter boundaries around social media during the workday.
  • Be intentional about encouragement for other creatives this month!

Personal Goals

  • Take more photos of our life – I don’t know why this is so tricky for me, but I have a hard time remembering to document our own life!
  • Create, order, and mail our Christmas cards!!
  • Deck the Halls with boughs of holly… or pretty garlands :)
  • Give a meaningful gift to someone, that they didn’t already know that they wanted!
  • Actually start sharing more of the imperfect parts of our life on social media!

Wife, mama, wielder of light & joy, and capturer of moments.  I thrive off of conversation and genuine connection.  In between wrangling our kiddos, and hanging my husband, you'll find me dreaming up my next idea or creative endeavour.  It's these things that culminate to give my imagery a warmth and joy to them - the greatest compliment I could receive.

THE JOURNAL

Lauren grew up spending her summers at the shore, and when she and Nick got together, she couldn't help but introduce him, too!  Their session in New Jersey was filled with gorgeous light, sweet smiles, and so much love & laughter.

Jersey Shore Engagement

Connor and Alli's wedding celebration was full of lush florals, gorgeous details, and a whole lot of joy.  Their first look was one of the most sacred moments I've witness on a wedding day... filled with so much delight and love!

One of my greatest inspirations comes from exploring and the California coast fulfills that wanderlust like nothing else.  Anytime I have rolling hills and oceanside views, I'm in heaven.

She's the ultimate hypewoman. I was pretty nervous about being photographed and Lauren made everything fun and flexible. Honestly, I can't imagine the day without her and her team. They were wonderful and hearing from Lauren was always a genuine delight.
