It’s the first photography conference that I ever attended, and the first time I got on a plane by myself.  I was freshly 19, camera in hand, and was determined to make this little dream of mine work after college.  So off I was, to the beautiful Santa Barbara, California, only to arrive after multiple layovers with tired eyes and a thrilled heart to my first Showit United experience.

I remember the big names I was getting to learn from and I soaked it all in.  From posing to business systems to the why behind it all, my notepad couldn’t have been fuller.

Though, I probably should have done my research a little bit more because I asked David Jay (the host at the time) who he was and why he was looking forward to being at the conference that year! *Insert Face Palm Here*

 

It was also the year that I met some of my dearest friends in the photography world, and had an experience that bonded us for life.

In case you couldn’t tell, this conference means a lot to me.
