Yesterday on the blog I shared my business goals for 2015. Some of you are probably wondering why I’m dividing these two posts up. Well, I am more than my business and for the sake of setting healthy boundaries, I decided that I want to make sure that I’m not so consumed with my business goals that I forget about personal goals. This time of year is so great to evaluate all that happened in the past year. For us, there were some huge and incredible changes that we’re so grateful for. I realized though that a goal doesn’t always have to be a tangible thing, but an idea for change. So here they are, a list of some of my ideas for change for 2015:
- Be Still: You know when people ask you how you are, and you have that kind of complex in your head of, I could just say great and that would be that, or I could be authentic and say what’s actually going on in my life. Well last year I chose the latter, to be authentic, and you know what I found myself repeating over and over and over again? “I’m busy, but everything’s really good.” This is the truth, but I want to make sure that I have time in life to say more than just I’m busy. I want to be intentional about how I’m spending my time. I also want to make sure that I am doing a good job at remembering my quiet time and being present in it.
- Letter, cook, style more: I absolutely LOVE blogging. It’s actually one of my favorite things to do and I love all the little creative projects that I get to dream up for the blog on Fridays. Sometimes though I find myself coming up with great ideas and not following through with them. No more! I want to have a booming Friday blog every week with helpful recipes, lettering inspirations, outfit ideas, and more! That’s right, I put it out there, so now I have to stick to it!
- Graduate college: A lot of people in the business world actually don’t know this about me, and assume it not to be true because I’m married, but I’m actually a 21-year-old senior in college. Since I’ve been running my business, I’ve been in school full-time and working and building up this business full-time. This spring I’ll be graduating from college and I absolutely cannot wait to have more time to pour into my business!
- See the world: When I originally put this on my list, I put it down because I want to travel more. While this is true, it felt selfish. I think instead I want to see the world for its pops of beauty, whether its in my backyard or in San Fransisco.
- Photograph more personal things: so often I view my camera only as a means to either a school project or to work. It takes away some of my creativity for personal projects. This year, I want to make sure I’m being more intentional about capturing personal things and viewing them as more than just work.
Phew! What a list! Thanks for bearing with me and getting through all of this with me! It means a lot to me that I have wonderful people supporting me who read this blog when I post things. Really, it means the world.
Today I start my first traveling adventure of the year as I’m heading off to California with some sweet friends for 5 days. I will respond to emails as often as possible but because we’ll be on the road, my answers may take longer than usual! Thanks so much sweet friends!
This is woNderful! I think the bet thing on this list is you graduating!!! Yay!! You can do it!
Great goals! I can’t wait to see where 2015 takes you!
Be still and photograph more personal things….YES!!! I always find myself saying I’m busy but good, too, and I want to have more to say than just that. And I never pick up my camera for personal things. It’s always just my phone. I need to change that. Thank you for sharing and good luck in 2015!!
great goals! the “be still” really resonates with me. that quiet time is the best and so important.
I love the idea of blogging personal things on fridays! Great list of personal goals!
You’re so smart to separate your business and personal goals like this. You are so much more than your business! Here’s to a fantastic 2015!
