It’s A … #LittleSwann

… Girl!!!

Morgan and I are so excited to let you know that we are expecting our first baby girl come February!

We found out a little bit earlier than most people do and couldn’t wait to share the news. At 16 weeks we had an “early” anatomy scan, since we hadn’t had a scan since our first ultrasound at 6 weeks.

We were sitting in the scan just waiting and hoping to find out a clear answer.  We weren’t sure if it was too early or not to tell if baby was a boy or girl.  We also had heard a ton of people say that if the baby isn’t cooperating, ie, their legs are crossed or something of that nature, you wouldn’t be able to find out.  I’m not going to lie, I had my heart set on finding out during this appointment.

Not even because we had a particular notion or care if it was a boy or a girl. But frankly, because I didn’t know what to call the baby beforehand.  “It” feels way too impersonal for a human being growing inside of you. But then what else do you say instead?

So when we heard the words “It’s a girl!” it was such a relief and also so much fun.  Both Morgan and I had thought that she was a girl, and our instincts were right! Needless to say, I am excited to call her “her” and by her name…

We can’t wait to meet our Reese Adaline!

A lot of people have asked us how we chose her name, and honestly Reese was one on a running list we had.  However, it’s always been my favorite girl name.  When we found out that it means “fiery” in Welsch, it felt serendipitous.  (If you know Morgan and I, you know that any child of ours is going to be a bit fiery by default!)  Plus, Adaline seemed like such a sweet middle name by sound.  By meaning it means noble — a trait I hope our sweet girl has.

So anyway, I just wanted to thank y’all so much for sharing in our excitement.  We love our little girl so much already and if you know me, you won’t be surprised to know that I’m counting down the days until we get to meet her!

She's the ultimate hypewoman. I was pretty nervous about being photographed and Lauren made everything fun and flexible. Honestly, I can't imagine the day without her and her team. They were wonderful and hearing from Lauren was always a genuine delight.
