3 Reasons You Need Getting Ready Photos

As you can imagine, there are a lot of questions I get pretty regularly about a wedding day.  Questions about the full experience and what it looks like are all pretty common!

Well friends, my favorite way to start the day? Getting ready photos.

There’s something so special about the anticipation of it all – I mean, the bride is getting the final touches on her hair and make-up.  Bridesmaids are bustling around, finishing the steaming, and getting dressed.  Details are coming together and toasts are being made!

There’s nothing sweeter than this time during the wedding day!

Now imagine my dismay, the few times that a bride has expressed wanting to skip out on this part of the day!!  I never want my couples to miss out on an excellent experience, and so I always encourage a change of heart. Why? Because:

1. You gain timeless photos of your bridal details!

You know that dress that you’ve spent endless times trying on in your bedroom beforehand?  The shoes you carefully picked out? The earrings your mama gifted you? This is the perfect time to feature them in all their glory! I love beginning the day photographing these items that will become heirlooms one day for your family!

These items and photos of them create such a beautiful representation of your legacy, and can’t you just picture it now? One day, your granddaughter will pour over your wedding album “oohing” and “ahhing” over all the details that made up your bridal ensemble!

2. Get comfortable in front of the camera early!

I don’t know about you, but every time I step in front of the camera, it takes me a few minutes to feel comfortable with a black box pointing at me and clicking away! By prioritizing getting ready photos, you can alleviate being hyper aware of said black box early! Woohoo!

3. Have fun photos with your favorite gals!

Chances are, as you’ve tried on your dress, you’ve also spent a little time dreaming about getting into it! With hair and make-up done, and all the final touches – your favorite girls get to see you all done up and transformed!  I can’t tell you how special those moments are without fail.  You’re going to want photos of it, I promise!!

Wife, mama, wielder of light & joy, and capturer of moments.  I thrive off of conversation and genuine connection.  In between wrangling our kiddos, and hanging my husband, you'll find me dreaming up my next idea or creative endeavour.  It's these things that culminate to give my imagery a warmth and joy to them - the greatest compliment I could receive.

Lauren grew up spending her summers at the shore, and when she and Nick got together, she couldn't help but introduce him, too!  Their session in New Jersey was filled with gorgeous light, sweet smiles, and so much love & laughter.

Connor and Alli's wedding celebration was full of lush florals, gorgeous details, and a whole lot of joy.  Their first look was one of the most sacred moments I've witness on a wedding day... filled with so much delight and love!

One of my greatest inspirations comes from exploring and the California coast fulfills that wanderlust like nothing else.  Anytime I have rolling hills and oceanside views, I'm in heaven.

She's the ultimate hypewoman. I was pretty nervous about being photographed and Lauren made everything fun and flexible. Honestly, I can't imagine the day without her and her team. They were wonderful and hearing from Lauren was always a genuine delight.
